Intelligent solutions for reliable waste water transport

Lecture

The continuous increase in the cost of water and the advance in water saving technologies had an unexpected effect on the “structure” of wastewater: Today, a cubic meter of sewage contains much more solids than 10 or 20 years ago. Additionally, in the last years, we have seen a fast increase in the wet wipes content in wastewater, which are increasing the risk of clogging pumps in a high manner. In the same time, the cost of energy and workforce were increasing all over the world, forcing to have a closer focus on them.

This is posing a challenge to water operators and to pump producers, as follows:

  • Pumps must run with high efficiency and high reliability
  • Water companies cannot easily increase the price of water to reflect the investment in new technologies and increasing of costs

On top of these, we are living in a world that is more and more interconnected, where objects around us are joining the internet of things (IoT) and this trend is reflecting on to the pumps.
