Higher plant availability due to surge protection

Lecture

Water and wastewater management is characterised by the large number of networked processes from the field level to the control level. Due to the increasing of used electronic components and their networking, fail-safe concepts are required. Surge voltage concepts play an important role here. Standardization (VDE 0100-443) now also requests surge protection.

Key Takeaways

  • Why is surge protection necessary?
  • Required risk management.
  • Which is the suitable SPD (surge protective device) and where should it be placed.
  • Monitoring of SPDs
  • Easy selection of SPDs
